SAN JOSE, CA – The Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization will make an appointment to fill two vacancies on the Committee. The Committee will appoint a candidate to a seat in Supervisorial District 1 and a seat in Supervisorial District 5. The appointees will serve until the terms of office of the vacant seats expire in November 2017.
Any eligible person who would like to be considered as a candidate for appointment is invited to submit an application.
Applicants must be registered voters and must reside within the Supervisorial District in which they would like to represent.
Supervisorial District 1 includes all or parts of Cambrian, Franklin-McKinley, Gilroy Unified, Lakeside Union, Loma Prieta Joint Union, Los Gatos Union, Morgan Hill Unified, Oak Grove, San Jose Unified, Saratoga Union, and Union.
District 5 includes all or parts of Campbell Union, Cupertino Union, Los Altos, Moreland, Mountain View-Whisman, Palo Alto Unified, Santa Clara Unified, and Saratoga Union.
High School Districts are not listed since they belong in the same supervisorial districts as their feeder elementary school districts in most instances.

The candidate selected cannot be employed by the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û (ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û) or any school district while serving on the County Committee. School district board members are eligible to serve.
The primary responsibilities of the County Committee are the reorganization of school districts (through territory transfers and unification) and the establishment and rearrangement of governing board trustee areas in the school districts. The County Committee is the central initiator, coordinator, facilitator, and arbitrator for these operations. It formulates plans, responds to petitions, conducts public hearings, develops and releases information, and analyzes proposals.
