​NUMU ArtNow competition offers students $5,000 scholarships
SAN JOSE, CA – The New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) is requesting submissions for their seventh annual county-wide high school art exhibition,
ArtNow. The ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û (ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û), a supporting organization, is encouraging high school student artists, from Palo Alto to Gilroy, to gain real-world experience participating in the juried museum exhibition.
The competition offers $10,000 in scholarships and professional development awards in categories of 2D, 3D, and 4D media. One "Best in Show" winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship to further his/her education, and a panel of judges will select artworks for the exhibition and award winners in each category.
"This is an exciting learning opportunity for students," says Jeannine Flores, Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator at the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û. "The exhibition provides opportunities for students to think, grow, embrace their talents, and showcase their work in the community."
WHAT:
The 2018 exhibition theme is "Perspectives," and youth are invited to respond to the theme by creating original works of art using any medium that visually communicates their ideas.
WHO:
Students from all Santa Clara County high schools, public, private, and home-schooled, grades 9 through 12, are encouraged to enter.

January 26, 2018 - Submissions close
February 16, 2018 - Exhibiting Artists announced
March 2-4, 2018 - Artwork intake at NUMU
March 29, 2018 - Exhibition Opening Reception

The ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û (ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û) is a regional service agency that provides instructional and business services to the 31 school districts of Santa Clara County. The ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û serves students through special education programs, alternative schools, Head Start and State Preschool programs, migrant education, and Opportunity Youth Academy. The Office also provides curriculum support, staff development, and technology support and training directly to teachers and staff in schools countywide.
