​â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â€‹â¶Ä‹â€‹â¶Ä‹â€‹SAN JOSE, CA - As a part of its commitment to public school choice and the community, the Santa Clara County Board of Education (SCCBOE) has scheduled a Special Board Meeting regarding Charter Schools at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, at the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û (ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û) located at 1290 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose.
The meeting provides a forum for the community, charter schools, traditional schools, and school districts to address the SCCBOE in matters related to charter schools in Santa Clara County. The Board welcomes and encourages the community to attend. The agenda will include an opportunity for open dialogue with the board. John Fensterwald, editor-at-large for EdSource Today​ will moderate the meeting.
​"The Board has a firm commitment to host periodic opportunities for dialogue with the community about charter schools," said Rosemary Kamei, vice chair of the Santa Clara County Board of Education. "We want to discuss what's working well, what can be improved, and how we can come together to support all students and families."
Also on the agenda, the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û Charter Schools Department will present the current process used for monitoring and oversight of charter schools authorized by the SCCBOE. The full agenda will be posted online at sccoe.org on Friday, November 3. ​

The Santa Clara County Board of Education is the elected governing body of the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û. Its seven members serve four-year terms and are elected from different regions of the county.
The ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û (ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û) is a regional service agency that provides instructional and business services to the 31 school districts of Santa Clara County. The ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û serves students through special education programs, alternative schools, Head Start and State Preschool programs, migrant education, and Opportunity Youth Academy. The Office also provides curriculum support, staff development, and technology support and training directly to teachers and staff in schools countywide.
