Program OverviewThe Champions for Innovation (CFI) program is designed to identify and develop current and future leaders from each division within the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û (ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û). The program aims to equip participants with the skills to effectively develop, lead, and execute projects with innovation at the center. CFI matches participants with mentors and provides a supportive community to design and launch projects that enhance the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û.EligibilityThe CFI program is open to permanent employees (certificated and classified) including existing managers, teachers, office staff, classroom staff, and service workers. Nominees can self-nominate or be nominated by another employee, including supervisors, direct reports, or other ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û staff members.Program StructureThe CFI program is a two-year program that combines design thinking, project management, and leadership competencies. The program begins in September with an orientation followed by monthly sessions. In the first year, participants complete a course in Project Management and meet monthly to review their learning, apply their new skills to their current position, and begin to identify a ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û-related project. By the end of the first year, participants will have earned a Project Management certificate. In the second year, cohort members are matched with a mentor and meet regularly with their mentor as well as their cohort to design and plan the launch of their projects. The program concludes in August of the second year with a project showcase.GoalsThe CFI program aims to grow leaders from within our organization and develop staff to their full potential. By doing so, we hope to match the needs of the ÀϰÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û to the career aspirations of individuals. Participants engage in design thinking strategies to imagine and execute dynamic solutions for complex issues.Application ProcessThe program selection process includes a statement of interest and onboarding conversation. Nominations are open every year in July and first part of August.Contact UsFor more information about the CFI program, please contact Julie Haneta at jhaneta@sccoe.org or (408) 453-6763
